Hudson Group is delighted to announce our SALVATION ARMY CHRISTMAS APPEAL 2013. The response to our Christmas 2012 Appeal, greatly assisted by both the Mail and Radio Humberside, was successful beyond our wildest dreams. Consequently in January this year Hudson Group pledged to continue it's role as the official Drop Off Centres in Hull and Hessle for the Salvation Army throughout 2013. Now, 12 months later I want to take this opportunity to say, a huge thank you to the people of Hull and the East Riding for their massive generosity, even more humbling in a year of increased unemployment and benefit cuts. It is with huge pride in our Hullishness that I can announce that not a single week has gone by without a donation of clothes, blankets or food being received by either our Hull or Hessle offices.
2013 has been a good year for Hull - a year in which the City has clocked up many significant achievements and received some substantial grants, and whilst some may feel that it is frivolous to dwell for too long on our recent amazing City of Culture 2017 Award, or to get over excited at reaching the Premier League, when we can still see daily evidence of poverty and deprivation around us, what I find deeply heartening is that whilst this 'new to Hull' feel good factor does not mean that our community is suddenly clothed and fed adequately, what it does mean is that we are moving towards the day when we will have the means at our disposal as a City to achieve these goals. I would like to reiterate the recent words of Kevin Walsh the KC Chief: "The image of the City, as with any city, is more about perception than reality - it's about the ABC - Ambition, Belief and Confidence and if we can continue to shift perceptions and turn our ambition into belief then the City will realize it's potential".
Your donations of food (packets, tins or dried), shampoos, soaps, toothpaste and general toilet items, coats, jumpers and other clothes (need not be new just in good condition), blankets and duvets will be received most gratefully - in fact, any useful household items you can spare will find a home through us because the Salvation Army not only helps those urgently in need of food, clothes and shelter on a day to day basis, it also helps people set up homes of their own and, if all else fails, your gifts can be sold in their shops.
Hudson Law and Hudson Property are open for you to drop off your donations from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm from Monday to Friday.
Many people have told us that they have donated through Hudson Group because they want to be sure that their donations benefit the local community, and we feel that this combined with the fact that our offices in both Hull and Hessle are so central, have both been important contributions towards the success of this campaign.
For these reasons we have decided to become a partner with Viking FM in a second Christmas Appeal this year - MISSION CHRISTMAS Cash for Kids 2013. You can do your bit to make sure that every child in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire wakes up to a present on Christmas morning by buying an extra gift when you are doing your Christmas shopping and dropping it in to us. All your contributions will be distributed to children in local hospices and hospitals as well as to deprived children in Hull, the East Riding and North Lincolnshire.
All that is left for me to say is a very heartfelt thank you in advance for your generosity which has already meant so much to so many during the last year and to remind you that the officially designated Drop Off centres for Hudson Group are: Hudson Law at 3 Parliament Street, Hull and Hudson Property at 25 The Weir, Hessle.
A happy Advent to one and all.
