Childhood sweethearts account for 1 in 8 divorces

Law firm, Pannone, claims that as many as one in eight divorces is caused by childhood sweethearts tiring of each other as they approach middle age.

The firm's Claire Reid, said: "We may associate childhood sweethearts with ideas of timeless romance, but the truth is that they face the same adult pressures as others.

A surprising number of divorces we have seen over the last 12 months featured young couples unable to continue relationships which had lasted quite some time. In some cases, husbands and wives became different people and grew apart as they grew older. Rather than remain in an unhappy marriage into their forties, couples are becoming more inclined to divorce, looking for a second chance to find happiness while they are still relatively young."
